Second Grade Open House

Today we got to participate in Daniel's new second grade class during the school's open house for parents. Vovo Daddy got to experience it too and we were all impressed to see Daniel in his class, with his new friends and teacher.

We started the morning by walking Daniel to school. My dad has been with us for over two weeks now and for the last week, he has walked Daniel to school and picked him up alone every day. Vovo Daddy insists in carrying Daniel's backpack for him every time -- he is spoiling his grandson!

Second graders meet in the gym and then are taken to their class by their teacher.

Unpacking, getting ready for the day

It's a good size class, 21 students.

Every morning they start with a language review quiz.

We were impressed at how they all did their work quietly!

When you are done with the quiz, you can read while you wait...

Don't take more photos, mamae!

  1. Querida filha. Obrigado por me ter levado a escola do Daniel. Fiquei impressionado com o modo da professora ensinar... Nada de quadro-negro e sim de computador e tela de projeção. E as crianças sentadas no chão e bem atentas à professora. Bom que você escolheu viver nos Estados Unidos e não onde nasceu. Sábia que você é. Do seu pai que ama muito, Tarcisio

  2. Dear Nani,

Vozinha and Vovô Stephen loved to see you in the photos enjoying your time going to school with Vovô Daddy - who is spoiling you by holding your backpack every day! Congratulations to Vovô Daddy for the excellent job he is doing! He will miss this time together with you a lot, Nani!

Mamae took several photos of you with smiles among your classmates. Your happy face made us feel good and part of your life. Thank you mamae!

We wish you, Nani, a time of joy while learning new things during your second grade. We cannot wait to see you and take you to school again, next year. Hugs and kisses full of "saudade" from Vozinha and Vovô Stephen in Portugal.
